Fenton Demolition Yields Bricks For Sale For A Good Cause. . .

As many of you already know, the Fenton Art Glass factory site has been demolished to make room for a new elementary school. "Several Williamstown residents and some former employees have asked about getting bricks for souvenirs," said Fenton Art Glass Company president George Fenton. "And there is a lot of interest among Fenton glass collectors. The demolition crews have sorted materials for recycling or disposal."

Fenton historian James Measell described the bricks. "We have red bricks from above the entrance and the display windows of the former gift shop, and we have very old bricks from the glass production area," he said. "The red bricks are from the mid-1960s when the gift shop was expanded and remodeled. The older bricks from the glass production area are marked 'ATHENS BLOCK.' These were made by a company in Athens, Ohio, and they date from 1906 when the original Fenton Art Glass factory was built." The 'ATHENS BLOCK' bricks still have the original mortar on them and on some it covers up many of the letters. On all the bricks at least a partial letter shows. Proceeds from the sales of Fenton bricks will go toward the preservation and digitization of important Fenton records so that they can be shared with Fenton collectors, glass museums and local historical organizations.

There are a limited number of bricks available beginning on June 1, 2018 and are limited to one of each brick per person. A Certificate of Authenticity signed by George W. Fenton and Randall R. Fenton will be included with each brick. Prices are: $10 per red brick and $20 per 'Athens Block' brick plus shipping via USPS Priority Mail ($15 for one and $20 shipping for two). To order, please contact the Fenton Gift Shop via email (include "Bricks" in Subject Line): or call (304) 375-7772 or 800-319-7793.

NEW Limited Editions from Fenton Gift Shop. . .
We are pleased to offer new Limited Edition selections for pre-orders. Each piece features a hand painted design and will be signed, numbered and dated by one of our talented designers. These Limited Edition pieces were made by Mosser, using the Fenton moulds, exclusively for the Fenton Gift Shop.

Our Opal Satin Bridesmaid Doll Figurine is adorned in a beautiful dress with a hand painted design by Michelle Kibbe. Large paisley swirls and colorful flowers encircle the 7" figurine. The doll's lovely bouquet includes these same flowers. A petite floral corsage is on the top ruffle. Note the cross-hatching accents on the uplifted part of the skirt ruffle! Perfect addition to any collection! Each Paisley Floral Bridesmaid Doll Figurine is $110.

Robin Spindler design on our 11" Opal Satin Alley Cat celebrates two popular Fenton Art Glass figurines that have been collector favorites. . . the Songbird and the Mouse. As background, she created a lovely summer sky and landscape filled with greenery and flowers which encircles the vase. The small brown mouse appears to be admiring two golden butterflies, while a plump Robin rests among the white flowers. Her painted details are wonderful. The above bottom right inset photo shows how Robin will sign each Limited Edition Alley Cat with "Fenton Family" and "Fenton 2018 hand painted by J K. Spindler". Each Fenton Family Alley Cat Figurine is $210 and limited to 17.

If you like Robin's "Fenton Family" Alley Cat, the you'll love her companion "Brownie" Mouse figurine. We think they make the "perfect pair" as shown in the photo at right! She hand painted this 2.75" Opal Satin figurine in light brown shades and added soft pink ears to create a natural look. Note those blue eyes and adorable expression! Each Brownie Mouse Figurine is $75.

Robin Spindler's hand painted scene featuring two tabby kittens and two beautiful butterflies works wonderfully on our 11" Opal Satin Vase! The details are marvelous, from the butterflies and large flowers in the background to the craggy rock landscape and the delightful expressions on the kittens! Each Tabby Kittens & Butterflies Vase is $210.

Robin has created the perfect companion piece for the Tabby Kittens & Butterflies Vase. She hand painted this figurine with a natural design to resemble an Orange Tabby. A great addition to any figurine collection! Each Orange Tabby Sitting Cat Figurine is $75.

Designed in 2001 by Fenton sculptor Jon Saffell for the Fenton Art Glass "Into the Pond" collection, our 4.25" long Turtle figurine is a collector favorite.

Kim Barley used golden-brown tones for the turtle's body, which was handcrafted in Opal Satin, and a mosaic pattern for the feet and head. She added lovely decorative design accents and swirls on the shell. Note that beautiful large flower on the top center part of the shell. Shown below are several views highlighting Kim's wonderful design pattern. Each Mosaic Turtle Figurine is $75.

Fenton Art Glass eBay Auctions. . .

Here's your opportunity to own a beautiful "one-of-a-kind" art glass creation through our weekly eBay auctions. These Fenton Art Glass eBay auctions will end at 2 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday, June 6th. Items featured this week. . .

This graceful basket (8" tall) in Marigold Carnival glass was in the Fenton line during 2006. The hand painted decoration, called "Golden Orchids," was designed by Frances Burton. The graceful flared shape is a real tribute to the skills of Fenton glassworkers, as is the crystal square twisted handle (the distinctive handler's mark is that of Robert "Woody" Patterson, a skilled glassworker who was a longtime Fenton employee). This basket is also signed by the talented decorator: "handpainted by R. Worstell." Marigold Carnival glass was first produced by Fenton in 1907-1908, and this basket made in 2006 can be seen as carrying on a great tradition.

Here's a great opportunity to own a piece of Fenton history! In the mid-1960s, the Fenton Art Glass Co. office area and the Fenton Gift Shop underwent considerable remodeling. Attractive brick facing was constructed on exterior areas, and the iconic "Clarence" figure was mounted above the gift shop entrance. Colored glass panels, made by skilled glassworkers at Fenton, were placed around the entrance door to the Fenton Gift Shop and around the entrance door to the reception area of the Fenton Art Glass Co. The Fenton factory is currently undergoing demolition, but the colored glass panels have been saved. This colored glass panel measures 11.75" tall by 8.75" wide. We call this color "Colonial Blue." There are a few minor chips near the edges on the back side of this panel. This colored glass panel has been signed by Fenton Art Glass Co. president George Fenton and by Fenton Gift Shop president Randy Fenton, dated 2018, and a certificate of authenticity is also included.

Here's a simply wonderful one-of-a-kind hand painted Lighthouse Fairy Light by award-winning Fenton designer J. K. “Robin” Spindler. The hand painted "under the sea" motif is simply spectacular: angel fish, multi-colored coral, a treasure chest, vegetation, a galleon lost at sea, and a marvelous "ray" creature from the watery netherworld. The hand painted colors are remarkably vivid, and the "under the sea" motif completely encircles the base (note the airbrushed blue tones and the hand painted scrollwork, too). The Lighthouse Fairy Light was one of the very last moulds made in the Fenton mould shop before the factory closed in July 2011, and only a few samples of the top have been located. The amber glass top is one of those samples, and the Opal Satin base was made for the Fenton Gift Shop by Fenton Collectibles in Missouri. A battery-operated tea light is included with this item.
These Fenton Art Glass eBay auctions will end at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6th, 2018.
