Sonny
Burdette
In 1951 sixteen year-old Sonny
Burdette joined the Fenton workforce as an apprentice glassmaker, following
in his grandmother's footsteps, who was working as a caser in the blow shop
at the time. As a presser for the past 35 years, he is often given the
toughest new pressing jobs to work out the "bugs". His quiet, calm manner
makes him a great problem solver and easy person to work with. Part of his
glassmaking experience comes from being a member of the Fenton manufacturing
team that toured German glassmaking factories in 1990.
Sonny's two daughters currently
work at Fenton, and his son was employed in the Gift Shop for a summer. He
and his wife Sandy reside in Williamstown, West Virginia.
